The United States will provide Ukraine with supplies and equipment to protect it from a possible Russian chemical or biological weapon attack, news agency Reuters has reported.

According to White House press secretary Jen Psaki, Ukraine will receive life-saving supplies and equipment in light of warnings from the United States and other countries that Russia may be planning a "false flag" operation to provide a pretext to use such weapons.

The White House has set up a panel of experts to plan how to respond if Moscow does deploy any weapons of mass destruction — chemical, biological or nuclear.

Earlier, NSDC Secretary Oleksii Danilov said he did not rule out Russia using chemical weapons during its invasion of Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also previously said that the Russian Federation is trying to create a pretext for the use of chemical weapons.

President Joe Biden called such a threat realistic, and said that the United States would "respond" if Russian dictator Vladimir Putin decided to take such a step.
