Law enforcement in Odesa have detained a member of the local Territorial Defense Force on suspicion of selling humanitarian aid intended for Ukrainian troops, Specialized Military Prosecutor’s Office South said in a statement on May 27.

The suspect is thought to have been illegally selling thermal visors, rifle scopes, and medical kits.

Prosecutors said that the suspect has illegally sold UAH 700,000 ($24,000)in humanitarian aid. The investigation will continue to determine if other service members were involved in the scheme.

“The detainee will be charged, and courts will be petitioned for an arrest warrant,” the message reads.

The fighter will likely be charged with possessing and/or selling contra-band, which could carry a term of up to seven years imprisonment.
