The United States will retaliate in response to potential Russian attacks on U.S. infrastructure – satellites included – White House national security spokesman John Kirby said on Oct. 27, as reported by Reuters.
Kirby was responding to a question from journalists on how the United States would react to Moscow potentially destroying or disabling U.S. commercial or government satellites.
A senior Russian Foreign Ministry official earlier said that Western commercial satellites could become legitimate targets for the Russian military, if they are used to supply Ukraine with battlefield intelligence.
According to Kirby, even publicly-available information suggests Russia is developing anti-satellite weapon systems.
