U.S. President Joe Biden has said that the United States and the world is at an inflection point now, while the Ukrainian people are “doing an incredible job,” the White House quoted him as saying on May 3.

“We’re at a place where the decisions we made in the last few years, the next three or four years are going to determine what this world is going to look like – not figuratively, literally – the next three, four, five decades,” Biden said at a dinner for combatant commanders.

Biden added that he also wants to take a moment to acknowledge the impressive leadership the U.S. military has shown in these last few months.

“You’ve armed, you’ve equipped, and you trained a proud and brave Ukrainian army and helped them preserve their liberty and their democracy,” he said.

The U.S. president also said that he “was a little bit surprised just how courageous, how amazingly brave not only the military is, but the Ukrainian people.”

“They’re just doing an incredible job,” Biden said.

Washington has supported Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, providing multibillion-dollar financial aid, as well as thousands of weapons and training to the Ukrainian military.

The U.S. Department of Defense announced a $300 million military aid package for Ukraine on May 3. The package includes howitzers, artillery rounds, and HIMARS ammunition, among other things.
