NATO member states should forget about saying that the Ukrainian army allegedly has not reached the standards required to join the Alliance, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said by video at an emergency NATO summit in Brussels on March 24.

"After a month of this kind of war. This is a request for the sake of our military. After this kind of war against Russia... Please, never, never tell us again that our army does not meet NATO standards," Zelensky said.

"We have shown what our standards are capable of. And how much we can provide to common security in Europe and the whole world."

At the same time, the Ukrainian president added that NATO itself has yet to show what it can do to save lives.

"To show that this is a truly powerful defense alliance in the world. And the world is waiting," Zelensky stressed.
