President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed Maksym Subkh as Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, president's website reads.
Subkh has served as Ukraine's ambassador to Algeria and Mauritania until May 2022.
Earlier, Zelensky announced that a special representative for African affairs would appear in Ukraine.
The president wanted to expand international relations between Ukraine and African countries.
After the start of the full-scale invasion many African countries expressed their support for Russia, blaming Ukraine, not the invading forces in the upcoming food crisis, caused by Russian blockade of the Ukrainian ports.
Zelensky has also ordered to prepare the first regional tour of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to the states of Sub-Saharan Africa in the history of Ukraine.
