Zelenskyy arrives in Britain for first talks with Prime Minister Andy Burnham

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the
United Kingdom on July 27 for his first meeting with the country’s new prime
minister, Andy Burnham, Zelenskyy announced.
He also plans to meet service members currently in the
United Kingdom, including personnel who took part in the Sea Breeze exercises.
“Over the years of the full-scale war, we have built the
strongest relationship in the history of cooperation between Ukraine and the
United Kingdom. The key priorities are air defense, maritime security and joint
defense production — cooperation that strengthens both countries. We value the
fact that we can always count on the United Kingdom’s principled decisions, leadership
and support,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that Britain and Ukraine would continue to deepen
their cooperation and bolster security.
The Independent reported on July 27 that Zelenskyy would
visit the United Kingdom to meet Burnham. Britain is expected to grant Ukraine
the rights to manufacture its Stone Cloak electronic warfare system during the
visit.
Immediately after taking office, Burnham pledged unwavering
support for Ukraine and expressed his determination to achieve a lasting and
just peace.
Burnham and Zelenskyy spoke by phone on the prime minister’s
first day in office and agreed to meet soon.
Burnham officially became leader of Britain’s Labour Party
on July 17. He became the country’s seventh prime minister in 10 years on July
20, replacing Keir Starmer.
