Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented a Ukrainian fighter pilot’s helmet to UK Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle during Zelenskyy’s address to the UK Parliament on Feb. 8.
The helmet was inscribed with the words "We have freedom, give us wings to protect it.”
"I am proud of our Air Forces and have brought a present for you, Great Britain," Zelenskyy said.
"It's a helmet of a real Ukrainian pilot, one of the most successful Ukrainian pilots, inscribed with the words ‘We have freedom, give us wings to protect it.’”
The Ukrainian leader expressed hope that partner nations will step up military support of Ukraine by providing modern fighter aircraft.
The visit to the UK is Zelenskyy’s second trip abroad during the full-scale invasion.
The UK is expected to announce an expansion of its training program for Ukrainian military personnel to include fighter pilots and marines.
