President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented a series of photos showcasing the ruins of the liberated town of Lyman after its occupation by Russian forces, on his Telegram channel on Oct. 5.
"This is what the occupier left behind in Ukrainian Lyman,” the president wrote in a message accompanying the phots.
“Everywhere in the captured territory the aggressor state destroys any basis of life – economy, social sphere, culture.”
Zelenskyy added that there is only one way to stop these crimes — to liberate Ukrainian lands.
"We are confident that the entire territory of our state will be liberated from the enemy – the enemy of Ukraine, life, humanity, law and truth," he stated.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Oct. 1 that the defenders of Ukraine had liberated five settlements near Lyman, allowing for the encirclement of thousands of Russian troops.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces had completely cleared all Russian forces Lyman on Oct. 2, Zelenskyy reported. Military spokesperson Serhiy Cherevatyi stated that the Russians had mined and left tripwires throughout the city during their retreat.
