Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted a motion to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, to appoint the acting head of the SBU security service, Vasyl Malyuk, as the agency’s chief, according to draft resolution No. 8425 of Feb. 6.

The relevant document has already been sent to the appropriate committee for consideration.

Malyuk has served as the SBU acting head since SBU chief Ivan Bakanov was suspended from his duties on July 17, 2022.

On July 18, Zelenskyy tapped Malyuk as the SBU acting head and submitted a motion on Bakanov’s dismissal to the parliament.
