Zelenskyy to visit Romania on October 10 — report
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is
set to visit Romania
on Oct. 10, The Guardian reported on Oct. 9, citing the office of Romanian
President Klaus Iohannis.
This trip to Romania will be Zelenskyy's first since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Citing its own sources, Romania Journal reported that Zelenskyy will meet with President Iohannis, Romanian PM Marcel Ciolacu, and address the Romanian parliament.
The official visit comes as Romania finds itself directly affected by Russia’s attacks against Ukrainian port infrastructure near the Romanian border.
Debris from presumably Russian drones, used in attacks against Ukraine, have been found several times on Romanian soil.
On Sept. 30, Bucharest announced that Russian drones might have violated Romanian airspace. NATO does not believe the attacks were deliberate. Romania has since moved some of its air defense systems closer to the Ukrainian border.
Warnings about potential dangers have started to circulate among residents of border towns who have seen the drone strikes firsthand and documented them on video.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
