What does the transfer of Patriot batteries to Ukraine mean?

It is not just that one state-of-the-art system can pave the way for other relevant systems

As you know, one of the most obvious results of the Ukrainian President’s visit to the U.S. is the official announcement by Washington on the transfer of one Patriot battery to Ukraine, which is an unequivocal breakthrough in the supply of weapons for our country. And it's not just that one state-of-the-art system can pave the way for other relevant systems. There are other not so obvious, but no less serious conclusions.

If we recall the difficult moment in U.S.-Ukraine relations before the supply of the Patriot, when the first stage of Russian aggression had just begun, the U.S. stubbornly refused to give Ukraine any weapons. They had a lot of arguments, starting with the fact that any weapons would not radically change the balance of power, and we would have no chance in a purely military confrontation against the whole of Russia, and ending with fears that American technology could end up in Russian hands.

Now we will have the Patriot. What could be more technologically advanced? This is just a sample of American arms technology. Moreover, the US is obviously no longer concerned that it will fall into Russian hands. That is, the thoughts that prevailed in Washington a year ago, that Ukraine would be completely occupied by the aggressor (and all we could do was to wage a guerrilla war), no longer remain.

Ukraine will not be occupied, Ukraine will retain its statehood, and this state will definitely be among America’s most significant allies.

Ukraine will not be occupied, Ukraine will retain its statehood, and this state will definitely be among America’s most significant allies. This is exactly the political message sent by the U.S. provision of the Patriot, and any issue of this scale is a political issue.

So, Ukraine will win. There is no doubt about this in Washington. Why am I talking about victory, and not about another ceasefire? For Russian imperialism, any result other than the "reunification" of Ukraine is a collapse, and this "reunification" itself will not happen. There remains only the question of time, conditions, and the number of victims that stand between the current historical moment and the victory of Ukraine. The path could still be very long, bloody, and destructive, because imperialism, being close to the time of death, will hold on to the last, sucking all the juices from its own giant state for the sake of a war in which it cannot win.

It is obvious that the question of how much, how hard, and at what cost all this will continue was the key issue in the almost three-hour conversation between the presidents of Ukraine and the U.S. What will the answers to these questions be? We will find out later, but the Ukrainian state has endured, survived, and will continue to live, and its life is death in historical terms for one empire that has already been living for far too long.
