Martin Malek

Born in 1965, graduated from Vienna State University in 1991. Independent political scientist. Several internships in research institutes and think tanks in Germany, Russia, Ukraine and the United States In 2002, scientific assistant to the military attaché at the Austrian embassy in Moscow. Areas of interest and expertise: State failing theories, theories of separatism, theories of ethnic conflicts, security and military policy in the Commonwealth of Independent States (especially Russia, Ukraine, South Caucasus), post-Soviet language policy, military-industrial complex and arms trade of the post-Soviet republics, relations NATO – CIS and EU – CIS, Eurasian energy policy etc. Author/editor of several books and some 300 articles, published in a dozen countries. Taught at several universities in Austria and abroad.
