Gerald McNerney

Gerald McNerney is an American politician, engineer, and former U.S. representative for California from 2007 until 2023. He is a member of the Democratic Party. He represented the 11th district between 2007 and 2013, and the 9th between 2014 and 2023 that included parts of San Joaquin County, East Contra Costa County, South Alameda County, South Santa Clara County and southern Sacramento County. McNerney holds a PhD in mathematics.

I read Hillbilly Elegy. It’s a good book. Reading it gives you an idea of what life is like for the people who live in Appalachia. The struggles, the angst.  How families are ripped apart, how the lucky ones are able to escape, including the author, who joined the Marines. The author shows heart and empathy.
