Le Pen launches fourth presidential bid as Europe braces for a rightward turn
Marine Le Pen, a leading figure in France’s far-right
National Rally party, announced in July that she would run for president in
2027. She entered the race after an appeals court effectively cleared her to
stand while upholding her conviction for illegally using public funds. Le Pen
now leads the polls and could present Europe with a major new challenge.
