EU offers support but defers to Ukraine on elections

The European Union has emphasized that the decision on whether to hold elections rests with Ukraine itself, in accordance with its own legislation. At the same time, the bloc is prepared to provide the necessary support during the electoral process and help ensure it meets democratic standards, European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper said during a briefing in Brussels on Aug. 20, according to news outlet Babel.
