“A prolonged pause in uranium ore extraction occurred due to the blocking of the enterprise’s accounts since January 2026,” the statement said. “After the law ‘On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Restoring the Solvency of Certain State-Owned Enterprises in the Energy Sector in Critical Condition’ came into force in March 2026, the enterprise was able to resume production.”
According to the statement, the plant used the forced pause to carry out extensive repair work.
During this period, repairs were carried out at the Novokostiantynivska mine, including work on self-propelled equipment, a railcar tippler and the hoisting complex at the Vent-1 shaft, as well as repairs to underground rail tracks.
At the Inhulska mine, repairs were completed on the dewatering system, the hoisting complex at the Pivnichnyi shaft, and the sorting and crushing complexes. Work was also carried out on pump equipment and underground rail tracks.
As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers supported a bill developed by the Energy Ministry on transforming the Eastern Mining and Processing Plant into a joint-stock company and submitted it to parliament.
The bill outlines the procedure for converting the state-owned enterprise into a joint-stock company fully owned by the state and defines the specifics of forming its charter capital and operations.
The Eastern Mining and Processing Plant is the only enterprise in Ukraine that extracts uranium ore and produces natural uranium concentrate.
Its production facilities are located in Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad oblasts. The enterprise includes three uranium mines, three processing plants and about 20 auxiliary units.
