The International Monetary Fund’s executive board has
approved the seventh review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program, paving
the way for Ukraine to receive a new tranche of about $400 million.
Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal announced the development on March 28. He said that when combined with previous IMF support for the nation’s state budget, the additional funding will boost the total amount of IMF financial aid to more than $10 billion.
On Feb. 28, Ukraine and the IMF reached a staff-level agreement on the seventh review of the EFF program, which is valued at roughly $15.5 billion. For 2025, the program anticipates disbursing up to $2.7 billion through four review phases.
On March 3, the IMF reduced the amount of the next aid tranche for Ukraine from $920 million to $400 million.
