For apartments and houses equipped with dual-zone meters, the nighttime rate will be 50% of the daytime rate.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting on the same day. The new tariff will be in effect from June 1, 2024, to the end of April 2025.
Notably, the rates will differ seasonally for those living in homes heated exclusively with electrical heaters. From Oct. 1 to March 1, the old rate of UAH 2.64/kWh will apply for the first 2,000 kWh per month consumed, increasing to UAH 4.32/kWh above 2,000 kWh. This will prevent excessive financial strain on people relying on electricity to heat their homes in the winter season.
Previous reports suggested that the initial plan was to introduce differentiated rates dependent on monthly consumption, but the government ultimately settled on hiking the unified tariff for all households.
