The renovated Eurobridge intermodal terminal has begun operations in Zakarpattya Oblast, enabling cross-border rail freight between Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania, deputy head of the President’s Office Viktor Mykyta said in a Telegram post on Feb. 9.

German logistics company Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) holds a 60 percent stake in the terminal.

“The HHLA investment, in partnership with Ukrainian fund Fortior Capital of more than UAH120 million [$2.8 million] will allow us to handle about 100,000 containers this year, with room for growth,” Mykyta said. He added that the project will create dozens of new jobs with competitive wages.

In June 2025, HHLA acquired its 60 percent share in LLC Intermodal Terminal Eurobridge, located in Batiovo, Zakarpattya. The deal gave HHLA a controlling interest, and together with its subsidiary METRANS, the company plans to continue developing the terminal.

The terminal covers 69,000 square meters near the EU border at the junction of several international rail corridors. It features eight tracks accommodating both 1,435 mm and 1,520 mm gauges and is equipped with rubber-tired gantry cranes.

Former SCM business-development director Mykola Nesterenko is the owner of Fortior Capital and the beneficiary of Fortior Finance, Fortior 207 venture funds and LLC Intermodal Terminal Eurobridge. In 2021, he purchased Fortior Capital’s stake from his then-partner, Oleksandr Kamyshin, who was appointed CEO of Ukrainian Railways that year.
