This move aims to deepen investment partnerships and enhance business cooperation between Ukrainian and Japanese companies, Kachka said in a press release published by the Economy Ministry.
“The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has concluded negotiations and registered the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) office in Ukraine,” the Ukrainian official said.
“The opening of JETRO's office is a strategic step and the result of productive negotiations with the Japanese government. It signifies the beginning of a new era of cooperation between our two countries. We aim to create an attractive business environment that will draw Japanese investments and foster robust partnerships between Ukrainian and Japanese companies.”
Kachka added that Japan plans to provide $188 million to support Ukraine's economic recovery projects. Kyiv’s priorities include energy, utilities, critical infrastructure, humanitarian demining, and business support. The establishment of the JETRO office will expedite the licensing of Japanese technologies in Ukraine and open new markets for Japanese products manufactured in Ukraine.
Previously Japan announced a $3.3 billion loan to Ukraine, secured against Russian sovereign assets frozen in the West.
