A large-scale cyberattack targeted Poland’s state registry system, RMF FM reported on April 30.

A cyberattack briefly disrupted access to Poland’s state online services on April 29, preventing users from paying taxes, registering vehicles, and using key government apps such as mObywatel, according to local media reports.

Authorities said the distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack was successfully repelled, but access to services was hindered for nearly an hour.

The attack appeared to be intentional, though the perpetrator has not yet been identified, the reports said.

The timing of the attack raised suspicions. April 30 is the final day to pay taxes in Poland, apply for the 800+ child benefit for the upcoming season, and register for the government’s Prevention 40+ health screening program.

Poland’s Cyber Police and the Internal Security Agency have launched an investigation into the incident.
