Ukrainian bank Monobank is enduring a DDoS attack for the third consecutive day, with the site having received 5.5 billion requests, co-founder Oleh Horohovskyi said on Aug. 18.

He said Amazon Web Services employees assisted in repelling the attack, noting that such a large-scale cyberattack is "also atypical" for them.

"In addition, our special services offered help. The situation is under control, but the scale is impressive," added Horokhovsky, co-founder of Monobank.

A DDoS attack, or denial-of-service attack, floods a resource with a high volume of requests from numerous IP addresses, aiming to make it unavailable by overwhelming its capacity.

On Aug. 16, Horokhovsky reported a DDoS attack on Monobank, which initially saw about a billion requests in the first three hours. The following day, the number of requests surged to 3 billion.
