The report cited a Naftogaz source familiar with the appointment details.
Another media outlet, ExPro, reported that the board ultimately voted for Koretskyi over Oleg Prokhorenko, who oversees Ukrgasvydobuvannya—a natural gas extraction subsidiary of Naftogaz.
Koretskyi has led the oil production companies Ukrnafta and Ukrtatnafta since November 2022. In 2013, while serving as CEO, he expanded the WOG gas station network, and in October 2018 he launched his own chain of cafes under the Idealist Coffee brand.
Koretsky succeeds Oleksiy Chernyshov, who had headed Naftogaz’s board since November 2022 before the Ukrainian parliament appointed him as the Minister of National Unity on Dec. 3, 2024. Following Chernyshov’s departure, the Supervisory Board named CFO Roman Chumak as acting chairman.
