Ukraine’s state oil and gas company Naftogaz sold natural gas on the national Energy Exchange on May 20, for the first time since Russia’s 2022 invasion, industry outlet ExPro reported on May 21.

The company sold 1 million cubic meters for May delivery at UAH22,083 ($500) per 1,000 cubic meters (without value-added tax) or UAH26,500 ($600) per 1,000 cubic meters (with VAT).

On May 14 the company bought natural gas on the exchange for the first time in 10 months. In early April Naftogaz Trading announced it was resuming gas sales to industrial consumers. During April the company offered gas both on and off the exchange, but its first on-exchange sale took place in May.

ExPro said traders estimate Naftogaz Trading may have sold 100–120 million cubic meters off the exchange in April, for delivery in May–July.

Earlier reports said the Naftogaz Group posted consolidated profit of UAH5.83 billion ($132 million) for 2025, about six times lower than in 2024.
