Kyivstar fallout – National roaming is down too, Digital Ministry to meet with all mobile operators

“The problem with the connection has affected other services, such as national roaming,” Prybytko stated.“This is a temporary issue, and Kyivstar specialists are actively working to restore service to their subscribers. This will happen soon.”

“The restoration of services will happen soon," assured the Ministry's representative.

The Digital Transformation Ministry will discuss with all mobile operators how to prevent similar situations in the future and protect users from unexpected communication problems, after finding a solution to the current situation, Prybytko said.

DTEK Kyiv Electrical Networks, a regional power provider owned by oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, issued a statement to their customers regarding Kyivstar's network outage. 

“Due to a technical failure in the Kyivstar networks, our number +38 (067)210 15 88 is currently not working,” the company said. DTEK Kyiv advised customers to contact the company via other numbers or use alternative service channels.

Ukraine's largest cellular operator Kyivstar experienced a major outage on the morning of Dec.  12. Connection problems with the Kyivstar network are being observed across Ukraine.

The company announced a technical failure, resulting in the unavailability of communication services and internet access for part of its subscriber base. “The company's specialists are working on resolving the issue,” the company said.
