Ukraine and Moldova have launched a bus service connecting Odesa with Chisinau Airport starting March 1, 2024, simplifying travel between the two cities, Interfax-Ukraine reported on Feb. 29.

"Odesa Regional Military Administration is implementing the AeroTransfer project. Buses will depart from Starosinna bus station at 8:00 or from Chisinau Airport at 19:00," stated Olexander Haiduk, local Transport Department Director.

Passengers could complete travel documents swiftly and take advantage of the transfer service to reach the airport faster than other transportation means, Haiduk said.

The decision to create the AeroTransfer service was made with the involvement of international partners from the European Union's Border Assistance Mission to Ukraine and Moldova.

The State Border and Customs Services of both countries have developed a streamlined process for AeroTransfer services to expedite border crossing. Passenger registration is available on the official website of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, with mandatory details of the date, time, and flight number for departures from and arrivals to Chisinau. Odesa regional government’s website provides the registration procedure and a list of documents required for booking.

The trip costs 800 UAH, with a 50% discount available for military personnel and their families, people with disabilities, war veterans, and combat participants, according to Haiduk. The expected travel time is four hours, and the customs and border checkpoints are estimated to take up to 40 minutes.

Additionally, passengers can access inclusive transfer services within the project, which cater to the full travel cycle for people with disabilities and other groups with limited mobility, from ticket purchase to arrival at the destination. Revenue from ticket sales will be directed to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
