Hungarian PM Viktor Orban has once again urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to resume shipments of Russian oil via the Druzhba pipeline, claiming satellite imagery shows it to be intact.

In a Twitter post on March 2, Orban insisted that “there is not technical obstacle to restarting the Friendship [sic] pipeline.”

“Satellite images do not lie: the Friendship oil pipeline has not been damaged,” he added.

“President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must stop the blackmail, act immediately, and restart oil deliveries to Hungary!”

Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Peter Szijjarto, posted a similar message on Twitter, saying that Druzhba oil deliveries are even more crucial for Hungary now, given the disruption of global maritime shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

“At a time when maritime oil transport is uncertain due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, blocking a functioning land supply route is a direct attack against Hungary,” said Szijjarto.
