Russian strikes have destroyed five JYSK stores in Ukraine over the past month, including in Sumy, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and two in Zaporizhzhia, JYSK Ukraine Country Director Yevhen Ivanytsia said on Sept. 23.

“This is the fifth JYSK store destroyed in the past month. Sumy, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih and twice in Zaporizhzhia — five JYSK stores destroyed in Russian attacks,” he wrote.

“The Russians are trying to deprive Ukrainians of the signs of normal life and civilization. Epicentr, Sinsay, Foxtrot and other companies have already left Sumy and Zaporizhzhia,” Ivanytsia added.

He said JYSK had managed to avoid casualties among employees and customers by following safety protocols.

Ivanytsia also said employees of the destroyed JYSK stores would be offered the opportunity to relocate to other Ukrainian cities where the retailer operates stores.

As previously reported, Russian forces struck the Amstor shopping center in Zaporizhzhia’s Pivdennyi district on Sept. 22.

Earlier, overnight on Sept. 21, Russian drones destroyed the Intrade shopping center in Zaporizhzhia.

On the evening of Sept. 17, Russian forces destroyed another Amstor shopping center in a different district of Zaporizhzhia.

As of the end of August, JYSK operated 119 stores in 40 Ukrainian cities, as well as the jysk.ua online store. The retailer employs nearly 1,000 people in Ukraine.

JYSK is part of the family-owned Lars Larsen Group and operates more than 3,500 stores in 50 countries. JYSK reported revenue of 6.2 billion euros in the 2024-25 financial year.
