"If there are no external influences, we should live in this balance for the next three months," said Boyko. "This means that if there are restrictions, they will be insignificant."
Blackout due to Russia's shelling of Ukraine
Massive Russian attacks on energy infrastructure have resumed since March 22, 2024. Russia has carried out eight missile and drone attacks on the Ukrainian energy system. Ukrainian power plants cannot generate the same amount of electricity as before the attacks due to damage, Ukrenergo said.
Controlled emergency power outages were introduced in all Ukraine's oblasts from May 14.
All large thermal and hydropower plants in Ukraine were damaged due to Russian attacks, Ukrenergo reported on May 20.
Russia destroyed 50% of Ukraine's power generation capacity, 73% of large TPPs are not working due to severe damage and destruction, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
The situation is much worse than in 2022-2023, Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko said.
The situation will improve in August after planned repairs of Ukrainian nuclear power plants' units and changes in weather conditions, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said in early July.
