Almost the entire territory of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia has left without power, local media reported on June 21. The cause of the outages is currently unknown.

Due to regional failures, there were power outages throughout Montenegro, except for the north, as well as large-scale power outages in neighboring countries, said Ivan Asanovic, Executive Director of the Montenegrin Power Transmission System (CGES), according to local outlet Vijesti.

The cause is still unknown, and the company is "working to solve the problem and ensure power supply to all consumers in Montenegro."

The Bosnian outlet Klix.ba writes that most of Bosnia and Herzegovina was left without electricity, including Sarajevo, Zenica, Banja Luka and the rest of the country. The country's electricity system operator has not yet commented on the situation.

The Croatian agency Jutarnji List reports that Split, Šibenik, Omis, Makarska, Dubrovnik, Zadar, and numerous islands were left without electricity, and almost all of Dalmatia was cut off.

According to the outlet, the outage started in Montenegro. There have reportedly never been such large-scale outages affecting three countries at once before.

A traffic collapse occurred in Split due to the outage, as traffic lights did not work. Currently, Split and parts of other cities are being gradually reconnected to the power grid.
