Business expectations indicators in Ukraine improving despite continuation of Russia’s war

In spite of war, constant shelling, and air raids, business moods in Ukraine have actually improved for the second quarter in a row, Chairman of the Parliament Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev reported on Telegram on Nov. 9.

Referring to State Statistics Service of Ukraine data, he said in the last quarter of the year, compared to the previous one, the business expectations of industrial enterprises improved by 2.4%, including a 2.8% rise for the process industry.

The business expectations of construction enterprises improved by 6.7%, retail trade enterprises saw a 10.2% rise, and expectations among service enterprises were up by 15.7%.

In the retail business, the business expectations indicator was even higher than it was last year for the equivalent period.

Expectations for a rise in sales have also improved, rising by 6% for industrial enterprises, including a rise of 2.8% the process industry. Construction enterprises saw sales expectations rise by 2 %, retail trade enterprises’ expectations rose by 18%, and service enterprises saw an improvement of4%.

“Although business indicators haven’t reached yet the level we would like to see them at, business expectations still became better two quarters in a row,” Hetmantsev wrote.

“It's a good sign that business is adapting to the new environment and is expanding its activity.”
