Blackouts in at least 5 oblasts following Russia’s largest missile and drone attack of the war
At least five Ukrainian oblasts have seen blackouts following Russia’s largest coordinated missile and drone attack of the war on Dec. 29.
Blackouts have been reported in the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Lviv, and Kharkiv oblasts.
The situation in the power system is stable and under control, announced the Energy Ministry. No outages of consumers are being planned.
Kyiv Oblast
Due to hits from debris, 10 kV overhead lines in two communities were damaged, 843 consumers were de-energized. Unknown persons blocked the gate valve in the gas well. Previously, 341 consumers were cut off from gas.
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
A 150 kV overhead line was damaged by shelling. Due to previous attacks, 3.3 thousand subscribers were de-energized, though power has been restored.
Odessa Oblast
As a result of morning shelling, 0.6 kV overhead lines were damaged. The networks are being examined.
Kharkiv Oblast
Due to night and morning shelling, damage to networks in five communities was recorded. 21 consumers had power restored, while 605 metering points were de-energized. As a result of hostilities, 16.6 thousand consumers are still without power.
Due to a malfunction, a carbon gas leak occurred in a house in the Izyum district. Two residents were found with suspected carbon gas poisoning, one of them was hospitalized.
Donetsk Oblast
Due to hostilities, four settlements (3.3 thousand consumers) are without power. 43 settlements (5.9 thousand consumers) were powered back during the day. 132 settlements are still de-energized - approximately 126 thousand metering points.
Zaporizhia Oblast
As a result of hostilities, 63 settlements - 5.6 thousand consumers - are de-energized. Due to some technical reasons, 1 settlement (16 consumers) has been powered off.
Kherson Oblast
238 consumers had power restored in Kherson. 4.3 thousand customers remain de-energized. One settlement (1.1 thousand subscribers) had power restored during the day. Due to hostilities,45 settlements (about 26 thousand metering points) are without power.
Chernihiv Oblast
As a result of hostilities, 16 settlements are without power - almost a thousand consumers. Due to technical reasons, 634 customers in four settlements remain without electricity.
Earlier it was reported that on the morning of December 29, the Russian Federation fired about 110 missiles at Ukraine. The maternity house and shopping center were damaged in Dnipro, in Kyiv, Lviv and Odessa residential buildings are damaged. Casualties are reported.
The death toll in the still ongoing series of Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukraine is nowat 26, with at least 132 others injured.
Explosions and numerous damages to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure have beenreported in several major cities, including Lviv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Zaporizhzhya Dnipro,Cherkasy, Sumy, and Kyiv.
Ukraine intercepted 114 of the 158 drones and missiles Russia launched at Ukraine overnight onDec. 28-29 in Russia’s biggest attack on Ukraine of the war, said Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
