Pinchuk’s Interpipe acquires first European plant in Romania from ArcelorMittal

Ukrainian company Interpipe, owned by businessman Victor Pinchuk, has completed the acquisition of a Romanian pipe plant from ArcelorMittal, the company said on Apr. 2.
It is noted that all customary conditions for closing the deal, including obtaining the necessary antitrust approvals and foreign direct investment permits from Ukrainian and Romanian authorities, have been fulfilled.
At the same time, the acquisition of the Roman plant strengthens Interpipe’s local production base within the European Union.
“The AMTP Roman plant is a well-known producer of seamless steel pipes for customers across Europe and beyond,” the statement said. “By integrating this asset into its operations, Interpipe aims to expand its production capabilities, improve supply chain efficiency and deliver greater value to customers.”
According to the statement, founded in 1951, the Roman plant is a major Romanian manufacturer of seamless steel pipes with diameters ranging from 168.3 mm to 406.4 mm, supplying products to customers in energy, construction and industry, including pipelines for onshore and offshore projects, as well as producing casing and tubing (OCTG) for oil and gas extraction.
As reported, in December 2025 Interpipe signed an agreement to acquire a pipe plant in Romania from ArcelorMittal.
On Dec. 16, 2025, Metinvest Group of Rinat Akhmetov completed a deal to acquire ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iasi SA from ArcelorMittal in the Romanian city of Iasi.
The facility became Metinvest’s first production site in Romania.
Interpipe is a Ukrainian industrial company and a producer of steel pipes and railway products, supplying more than 50 countries worldwide.
The company includes the Interpipe Steel electric steelmaking complex, Interpipe Nizhnedniprovsk Pipe Rolling Plant, Interpipe Novomoskovsk Pipe Plant, Interpipe Niko Tube and Dnipropetrovsk Vtormet.
The company employs about 9,500 people. The ultimate owner of Interpipe Ltd is Ukrainian businessman Victor Pinchuk and members of his family.
