Norway funds subsidy program for Ukrainian farmers

The Norwegian government is financing a $1.1 million program
to help small agricultural
producers in Ukraine’s Chernihiv and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts buy seed and fertilizers
for the coming sowing season, the Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry said on June
17.
The ministry said the program, implemented jointly with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and financed by Norway, will support 550 farmers. The assistance is intended to help farms prepare for the new season, preserve sowing areas and bolster local food security.
Eligibility and application:
- Farmers and legal entities registered in the State Agrarian
Register (DAR) that cultivate 10 to 150 hectares of officially registered
agricultural land in Chernihiv or Dnipropetrovsk may apply.
- Applications must be submitted through the DAR by June 29,
2026.
- Each voucher is worth $2,000, paid in the hryvnia
equivalent.
- Priority will be given to women-led farms, the ministry
said.
- Only one application is accepted per legal entity or
individual entrepreneur; owners of multiple farms may receive only one voucher
under the program.
- Producers who already received similar FAO support in 2026 are not eligible to participate again.
The ministry also noted that Ukrainian agribusinesses have
attracted UAH183 million ($4 million) in grants for the development of
horticulture, berry production, viticulture, and greenhouse farming since the
start of 2026.
