OPEC+ agreed to keep its November oil output targets unchanged, in line with expectations that further production policy changes are unlikely before next year, Reuters reported on Oct. 4.

On Oct. 4, seven key members of the group, which includes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, including Russia, agreed during an online meeting to hold another meeting in November. The key members are Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan and Oman.

“The OPEC+ group of seven countries left production quotas unchanged, in line with market expectations. Nevertheless, despite increased oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, production levels remain significantly below quotas,” UBS analyst Giovanni Staunovo said.

OPEC+ oil producers in the Persian Gulf continue to produce well below their targets because of prolonged export disruptions caused by the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, with exports in recent months running at about 60% to 80% of normal levels.

It was previously reported that Saudi Arabia informed OPEC that its oil production fell sharply again in August, reaching its lowest level since 1990 as the escalating conflict between the United States and Iran constrained the kingdom’s ability to export crude.
