The international payment system Payoneer will finally suspend operations in Russia, Russia’s DTF media outlet reported on Nov. 15, with reference to an email received by Russian clients.
The company suspended its activities in Russia in early March 2022, closing the registration of new accounts. However, these restrictions could be bypassed using VPN and third-party services.
According to DTF, so far, Russians can use Payoneer to receive payments from websites that support the operation of this payment system, such as Patreon, BuyMeACoffee, Shutterstock, etc.
At the same time, as reported by Russian tech news site vc.ru, Payoneer’s technical support clarified that the company would not be able to continue serving customers in Russia due to operational restrictions.
“This means that all customer accounts in Russia will be closed by Dec. 16, 2022,” the report says.
The company added that any funds sent to the Russian account after Dec.8 would be returned to the sender.
“We recommend that you contact the company that makes payments to your Payoneer account to explore possible options,” the company said.
As reported earlier, the Payoneer payment platform was integrated into Ukraine’s Privat24 banking service. Thus, users will be able to link their account and withdraw funds.
