Ukraine bans software from sanctioned countries
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved changes to the "On Sanctions" law, banning Ukrainian entities from using software from sanctioned foreign countries, according to Taras Melnychuk, the Cabinet’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada on Aug.17.
The Ukrainian Parliament has approved a draft law amending the "Law on Sanctions" to impose new sectoral sanctions, including a ban on using software from sanctioned countries.
The new law will prohibit the distribution and use of software products and components from nations under sanctions, as well as products developed by entities or individuals from those countries.
It also restricts access to electronic resources controlled by sanctioned entities, such as websites and communication networks.
This follows reports of malware emails allegedly sent from the SBU affecting government and local computers.
