Ukraine's state budget deficit exceeds UAH 400 billion
Ukraine's state budget deficit has exceeded UAH 400 billion ($10,8 billion) since the beginning of the year, the parliament's Budget Committee chair, Roksalana Pidlasa, said in a statement on June 2.
The general state budget fund's deficit has reached UAH 401.9 billion ($10.9 billion) since the beginning of 2022, including UAH 91.3 billion ($2.5 billion) in the month of May alone.
Expenditures from the general fund were UAH 1.143 trillion ($31 billion), including UAH 277.4 billion ($7.5 billion) in May. The needs of defence remain the main expense.
The state budget general fund's revenues were UAH 1.481 trillion ($40.1 billion) in the first five months of the year. Almost half - UAH 723.8 billion ($19.6 billion) came from external sources, while UAH 757.4 billion ($20.5 billion) came from internal sources.
"Tax revenues exceeded external borrowings in May for the first time recently. Tax bodies collected UAH 101.2 billion ($2.74 billion), while external borrowings amounted to UAH 73.4 billion ($2 billion), domestic borrowings from domestic government bonds to UAH 68.6 billion ($1.86 billion), a grant from the U.S. — UAH 45.7 billion ($1.24 billion), and revenues from the customs — UAH 29.6 billion ($800 million)," Pidlasa specified.
The state budget general fund's revenues amounted in May to UAH 328.3 billion ($8.9 billion), with UAH 209.2 billion ($5.66 billion) coming from internal sources and UAH 119.1 billion ($3.22 billion) from outside Ukraine.
