EU leaders to discuss Ukraine security and appoint special envoy next week
Next week, European Union leaders will discuss appointing a special envoy to represent the EU at potential Russia-Ukraine peace talks, Bloomberg reported on Feb. 27, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to unnamed sources, EU leaders will meet on March 6 for a special summit to develop a unified stance on regional security—focusing on both rearming the continent and addressing Ukraine’s defense needs.
In addition, European leaders will deliberate on the EU's expectations for peace in Ukraine and the post-war security guarantees the bloc might offer.
On Feb. 16, Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated at the that Europe needs a special representative for Ukraine to play a significant role in the negotiation process regarding the Russia-Ukraine war.
Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that European representatives must be at the negotiating table because Europe, its way of life, and its security are strategic targets for Russia.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
