A quadcopter dropped an explosive device onto an administrative building in the village of Golovchino in Belgorod Oblast on the evening of May 21, the governor of the Russian region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said in a post on his Telegram messenger channel.

“An extraordinary event in the Grayvoronsky municipal district,” Gladkov wrote.

“A few minutes ago (the governor’s message was published at 11.21 p.m., Moscow time – ed.), an explosive device was dropped onto the administration building of the rural settlement in the village of Golovchino from a quadcopter. The roof caught fire.”

Gladkov wrote that there were no reported casualties at that time.

Photos and video of the burning roof of the building were later posted on social media.

Russia has seen a spate of explosions and fires associated with drones over the past few weeks. On May 3, an alleged drone attack caused a fire on the dome of the Senate Palace in the Kremlin, in the heart of the Russian capital Moscow.

The Ukrainian authorities have denied being behind the drone attacks.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
