Foreign journalist wows Internet by reporting from Kyiv in six languages
British-German-Luxembourgish journalist Philip Crowther’s recent report from Kyiv has turned into a viral hit, due to him speaking six languages when reporting about the current situation in Ukraine.
A video of his multi-lingual reporting has racked up more than 7 million views, more than 9,000 retweets and 57,000 likes.
Crowther posted a video on Twitter on Feb. 21 in which he spoke in English, Luxembourgish, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German with Kyiv in the background.
The 41-year-old journalist currently works for the Associated Press. He talks about the events in Ukraine amid the ongoing threat of Russian invasion.
Crowther was born in Luxembourg to a British father and a German mother. Since childhood, he spoke in three languages: German, English and Luxembourgish. Later, Crowther also learned French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
