Ex-Dynamo player Porkuyan’s house damaged in recent Russian assault
The house of former Dynamo forward Valeriy Porkuyan was recently damaged in a Russian attack on Odesa, according to the Bombardyr Telegram channel on March 4.
Reports say that 80-year-old former football player and coach Valeriy Porkuyan was nervous but is alive and well after a recent incident.
“He was nervous, but thank God he is alive and well! The house was severely damaged — there are no windows now. It's winter. Where can we go? What can we do? The 'denazification' continues,” the report stated.
Porkuyan, who played for the USSR national team at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico and became the top scorer for the Soviet national team in the 1996 World Cup (scoring 4 goals in 3 games), had a successful club career with Zvezda, Dynamo, Chornomorets, and Dnipro.
He won three Soviet championship gold medals and the USSR Cup with Dynamo Kyiv.
After retiring from playing, he worked as a coach in Ukraine.
