Popstar and Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala starred in a stylish photo shoot for Ukrainian Vogue, with the star publishing footage from the photo shoot on her Instagram page on Aug. 31.

Jamala posed in clothing from the Polish brand Magda Butrym, Ukrainian brands BOBKOVA and Gasanova, Italian brand The Attico, and French fashion house Mugler.

"I’m constantly moving forward, trying to get my life back, no matter how hard and tiring it may be. I divide myself into parts, where I am a mother, a volunteer, and a singer. All of these parts together make a whole. And dream of living in a peaceful home, in my Ukraine,” she wrote.

“Feel beautiful and attractive, allow yourself to be happy, at least a little. To break the wings is what lets you take off and to love,” she added in the caption.

Jamala also answered whether it’s appropriate to look good during war.

“I want to get myself back…I want to hear compliments when I walk around. I want men to say I look good. Why not? This shoot helped me a lot because I want to show that I’m feminine and sexy. Of course, you argue with yourself whether it’s appropriate.”

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
