Heavyweight champion predicts outcome of Usyk-Verhoeven matchup

Agit Kabayel shared his thoughts on a potential fight between unified heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk and Dutch kickboxer Rico Verhoeven.
German heavyweight boxer Agit Kabayel said he expects Oleksandr Usyk to defeat Rico Verhoeven and suggested he could challenge the Ukrainian in the ring after the fight.
“I think Usyk will win this fight. Maybe I’ll get into the ring and say: ‘Let’s do it. Let’s make it happen for the fans. We’ll give the fans a good fight,’” Kabayel told DAZN Boxing.
“At least for me, I’ve been waiting for this situation for a long time. Why not do it at the end of the year in Germany, at a stadium? I think German fans and many people are waiting for this fight. It’s very interesting. The world will see how big Germany is in boxing,” he added.
The Usyk-Verhoeven fight is scheduled for May 23 near the pyramids of Giza pyramid complex in Egypt. The WBC heavyweight world title will be on the line.
The winner will receive a special “King of the Nile” belt, as well as a WBC championship chain and pendant valued at about $40,000.
At the official weigh-in a day before the fight, Usyk registered the heaviest weight of his professional career.
Earlier reports named Usyk as the favorite heading into the bout.
