Nemo reacts to Russian shelling in Kyiv, calling it 'a sad reality for Ukrainian friends'

Nemo, who arrived in Kyiv on Oct. 9 as part of a European tour, reacted to the shelling of Ukraine’s capital on Oct. 10.
On their Instagram, the singer — who identifies as a nonbinary person and uses they/them pronouns — shared a photo from a hotel bomb shelter.
“I slept in the hotel shelter as Kyiv was under fire all night. Such nights have become a sad reality for many of my Ukrainian friends. I am so grateful for all the warmth and love we’ve received during our stay. Kyiv is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited, and I’m looking forward to music and connection tonight,” Nemo wrote.
Nemo arrived in Kyiv on Oct. 9 and recorded a video while walking through Mykhailivska Square. “We’ve arrived in Kyiv. It’s a gloomy but beautiful day,” they said.
Later, the artist visited chef Yevhen Klopotenko’s restaurant Sto Rokiv Tomu Vpered (A Hundred Years Ago in the Future), where they tried borscht and an appetizer made with bees.
On Oct. 10, Nemo is set to perform their first concert in Kyiv’s Atlas club as part of their European tour. That same day, they also released their new album Arthouse.
Overnight on Oct. 10, Russia’s army attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles and strike drones. Debris from intercepted targets fell in several districts, causing fires in residential buildings.
At least 12 people were injured, and the attack targeted critical infrastructure. As of morning, parts of Kyiv remained without power and water.
Later, power was restored to 270,000 customers in the city.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
