‘They have such stupid people in leadership’ – Russian Olympic champion melts down at Paris Mayor
Russia’s two-time Olympic gymnastics champion Lidia Ivanova showed she can pout as well as she vaults.
A petulant Ivanova ranted about Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo’s opinion that Russian and Belarusian athletes should not participate in the 2024 Olympic Games to be held in her city this summer.
“The Paris mayor is a viper, an idiot!”, said the athlete, noticeably with a touch a venom herself.
“I cannot even find other words. I feel sorry for Parisians, for the French, that they have such stupid people in the leadership,” she said, without a hint of irony.
“Well, how can you answer that?” she continued her rant during an interview on Match TV.
“It primarily speaks of stupidity, ignorance. A person who is waiting for visiting athletes at the Olympics has no right to make these remarks. It doesn't matter how high-ranked she is. This is uncivilized. I feel sorry for Parisians that such a phenomenon can happen to them."
Nikolai Valuev, a former professional boxer turned Russian politician and propagandist, hysterically lashed out at Macron earlier, xenophobically labeling him “a froggie”.
(The term "Frogs" or “Froggies” as a derogatory nickname for the French and is considered offensive.)
Olympic champion threw his own tantrum, crying about Russia’s humiliation, it was reported earlier.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
