Nineteen border guards have returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity, the State Border Guard Service's press office said on Telegram on Nov. 5.
“The long months of Russian captivity are over. 19 border guards have returned home,” the Service stated.
“Further, they will undergo medical examination and rehabilitation. But the main thing is that they are alive and at home.”
The personnel released from Russian captivity are in a satisfactory condition, and medics are currently working with them, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, said on national TV on Nov. 5.
“Of course, the conditions they were kept in were difficult,” he added.
“They have lost weight and need a medical check-up and rehabilitation.”
Ukraine and Russia exchanged prisoners of war on Nov. 3, as a result of which 107 Ukrainian troops returned home.
Among those released are six Ukrainian officers, 101 privates and sergeants, other members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Navy, the Territorial Defense Forces, the State Border Guard Service, the National Police, the State Special Transport Service, and the National Guard, including three soldiers from the Azov regiment.
