Death toll from Russia’s largest aerial assault on Kyiv rises to 24

The death toll from the collapsed building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, following the large-scale Russian barrage on May 14, has risen to 24, including three children, the State Emergency Services reported on May 15.
Rescue crews reported that 3,180 cubic meters of debris have been cleared from the site of the collapsed building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. Urban search and rescue dogs have combed 2,800 square meters of the site. 398 people received psychological support.
As of 6 a.m. on May 15, 47 people were reported injured in the attacks on Kyiv, including two children, while 30 individuals were rescued from the rubble.
Search and rescue operations are still ongoing in the Darnytskyi district.
Kyiv has declared May 15 a day of mourning in memory of the victims of Russia’s largest attack on the capital, Mayor Vitalii Klitschko announced.
Flags will be lowered on all municipal buildings across the city, and all entertainment events will be suspended.
May 14 large-scale Russian attack on Kyiv
Russian forces launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Kyiv on May 14, which continued throughout the night and into the morning. Preliminary reports indicate that an X-101 missile struck a building in the Darnytskyi district and caused it to collapse. 20 people are still missing. Two girls aged 12 and 13 are among the victims of the attack.
Damage was also reported in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Obolonskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts.
Russia launched 56 missiles and 675 UAVs at Ukraine overnight. The Ukrainian Air Force shot down and neutralized 41 missiles and 652 enemy UAVs.
