Lithuania will buy 3,000 FPV drones for Ukraine for 2 million euros
Lithuania plans to purchase 3,000 FPV drones for Ukraine and deploy them at the front by the end of the year, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said during a joint press conference with her Ukrainian counterpart, Denys Shmyhal, on April 5.
The Lithuanian Defense Ministry will allocate about 2 million euros ($2.1 mln USD) for this purchase, she said. Lithuania also allocated 35 million euros (almost $38 mln USD) to a Czech initiative to purchase shells for Ukraine, Šimonytė added.
Lithuania has provided over 1 billion euros in aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, with military aid constituting half of this amount.
Lithuanian aid to Ukraine
On March 7, Lithuania delivered another batch of 155mm artillery ammunition to Ukraine.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda stated on March 13 that Western countries should discuss the idea of sending military personnel to Ukraine and stop drawing “red lines” regarding aid to Kyiv.
The Lithuanian Parliament has approved amendments to the state procurement law, allowing the purchase and transfer of drones with Chinese-made components to Ukraine, Lithuanian mediaoutlets reported on March 26.
